Back when "we were kids", there were really only two boots to truly lust after. The first was the original incarnation of the Adidas Predator which was so innovative, and the second was the classical yet quality Puma King.

Move forward a decade or so, and although the Adidas Predator has undergone a year on year process to get to where it is today, Puma were rather lazy with the Puma King and yet it still stayed desirable. This year however, they have at least updated the looked a little bit, to bring us the Puma King XL.

It is still the classical looking boot for the player who likes a K-leather upper, a traditional stud layout and a central lace and tongue shape, but with a slightly more modern feel to it. It is probably unfair to continue to compare it to the Predator, as its more obvious rival in the Adidas family is the Adipure, and this boot will appeal to a similar market as that.

The Puma King used to be the most worn football boot amongst football's elite players, and through more aggresive sponsorship deals from the likes of Adidas and Nike, they have lost some of their market share. Pro's that wear the Puma King XL are not that well publicised as these boots don't need to have the marketing hit behind them like others, but don't let that put you off buying what is one of the best football boots available on the market today. And better still, they are some way cheaper than boots such as the Predator or Mercurial, and you can get yourself a pair of these for under 100 quid. What more could you want?! If you choose to buy a pair of Puma King XL's, you will have made a fine choice and you won't regret it.
